Call Me

Now in chill out mode:
From the new Future Disco album City Heat via Sean Brosnan,
Ilija Rudman x Greg Wilson on Call Me Tonight.

After a night of bin bags and Bad Rabbits, I'm urgently looking forward to Le Loup at T Bar next week, hoping he'll out-do his amazing set that time I was sober for Resident Advisor at Dalston Superstore -
Though he's up against Crosstown Rebels at Fabric w/ Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus, Deniz Kurtel & Dyed Soundorom. DEAR GOD.

Document

The last time I heard this out was at 11 bloody AM in the morning in a dark pit of techno in South London that they call CABLE.

Konrad Black was on (who's apparently not as good as me) (Yeah that's right, TODD) and we had been subjected to staying awake during 3 million hours of Geddes since Mulletover the night before.

Life Lessons - Lee Curtiss (taken from the Document EP on Spectral curated by Ryan Elliott as if you didn't know by now) Super dark, solid release.

Look At You

Am I the only person on the planet who saw Dogtooth (Kynodontas) over the weekend and didn't curl up in a ball of Lynch-esque fear? Very, very good.

And so is this:

Bad Rabbits

Oh my god this is so suave it makes me blush just listening to it.

Room With a View

After their Atjazz remix, Dairmount & Berardi took on Andre Lodemann's Dark Edge on the lovely Room With a View Records:

The Glow

Did anyone else lol at Lee Curtiss's The Glow edit using the same sample as in Janet Jackson's All For You?

Everyone Knows

About my rather indiscrete love of Nicolas Jaar.
Mauled him recently on a couple of interviews, this one for Dazed Digital.
Clown & Sunset label feature to come...

Do check out his Get The Curse mix from a while back if you haven't yet.

Shining Deacon

This would be incredibly generic and avoidable were it not for the groovey brass and awesome claps. A deeper take on the actually kinda boring original. Sshh.

Dan Deacon's rant about lighthouses.
"You don't like the lighthouse, you suck."

On & On & On...

Am back at what appears to be an office after spending twenty hours over the last two days at Fabric's 30 hr non-stop event seeing Onur Ozer, Gadi W+L, Seth Troxler's 1 million sets, Dinky, and Konrad Black (again), etc. HELP ME.

Here's the Soul Clap Great White Hope mix (kicking off with some much-loved Jaar) in homage to missing their set last night due to... actually I still don't know quite know what happened there.

Highlights included:
  • Stalking Seth Troxler and
  • Going mental.

Mm, Danish

So it's been the various Fashion Weeks and a Copenhagen trip to meet le Tartelet boys & Kasper Bjorke where during the days we talked accidental pornos and at night got wasted and played gems like Kenton Slash Demons' new record 'Sun' (literally breathtaking) and Danish trance (think I was supposed to stay quiet about that).

But having had a day to gather my tech-house marbles, I bring some Downtown Party Network - Days Like These. Laidback disco with feel-good synths.
And their Danish ventures from the pretty tight release package alongside remixes from Zombie Disco Squad and Jimpster:

Dolly La Parton

Not another Backwards Barbie but the alias of Alex Under of CMYK via BeMySheep making eerie dischordant-scat driving-tech 'dancefloor choons'. If the dancefloor was full of people looking like they were having a bit of a spaz.

Talking Jazz On The Telephone

Moodymann - Telephone Blue (Franklin De Costa Tool Edit) by franklindecosta

(d/l)
Vs

Talking All That Jazz (Patrick Lindsey & M.in Remix) - Marc Romboy

The De Costa remix of Moodymann feats some creepy pitched down vocals that wouldn't seem out of place on a Spectral release kicking in amongst the moody (no shit) deep house which lightens up towards the end, whilst Marc Romboy talking some jazz gets re-jigged by Patrick Lindsey & M.in.

Sei Ace

I know I make this bold statement at my own risk but.. someone made me like a Beatles song?
Yay for Sei A's magic touch; also appreciating his remix of Moodymanc & Paul Hardy's Sizzler which is exactly that, adding an extra euphoric edge to the 'Josh Wink circa Banana-esque' tech-yness, definitely wait till the half-way mark.

Casanova

YES to old photos and buying a Holga that's held together with a piece of cardboard from a dodgy jumble lady in a polka dot dress. Expect a series.

And similarly effervescent approval for Mario Basanov who I'm guessing is a pretty slick fella.
French house vocals x tropical deep disco for getting into your car and getting out of my dreams to.

Curses

If groovy French x Spektre-esque tech is what you're pining for, head over to Get the Curse for Olibusta who joined forces with Clement Meyer for an EP on the new GTC label.
Check out his remix of this Brrr-ap house track. (And no this isn't in reference to yet another made-up genre devised by plebs, just some amusing vox in there)

Browns

No this is nothing about the South Molton Street boutique ladies, calm the f down. This is dug out from the 'so deep I'm drowning in slap bass' funky/soulful house producer's 'The Early Years'. Circa 2008.
