So summer has pretty much ended in mid-August. CHEERS England. Some photos from the last of my beach times in Alghero taken with a Boots disposable. And a gorgeous song from the Hivern A L'Estiu Vol 2. Comp.
Holy moly Brooklyn's Jacques Renault and Gadi Mizrahi from Wolf +/Or Lamb are playing this Saturday in a secret dingy hole in Dalston. We've got a fever and the only cure is more funky edits with a kickdrum on it.
So of course just as I left the T Bar Closing Party at Scrutton Sweaty Street, Soul Clap decided to play Extravaganza and everyone had an amazing life-changing singalong session and then I died.
To celebrate and recuperate, here's the gorgeous podcast for Hybridlife by Maayan Nidam. It's even got that horribly out of time x acid track, all my favourite things: Oracy - Bass Mood (via Pablo Funkism). So painful.
When I first started seeing 'Off Key Hat' remixes about I just assumed it was the outcome of more off key hi-hats in tracks becoming a prevalent trend. This is much better.
To sum up this track perfectly:
"You know this song was made by a man - A woman could not have made this... because a woman can never understand love, like a man does... And that is essentially, what this song is about". Thomas P Ensom
So usually if someone asks do you want to listen to some psychedelic IDM you'd say leave me alone you fucking hippie, but Oneohtrix Point Never is making it a bit interesting. Soaring off-key synths and layered bleeps make for an emotive ride.
So I think it's safe to say I've never been afraid of handbags until Lynch directed a Dior advert. Watching AnOther Mag coverstar Cotillard going a bit berserk in Shanghai left me curled up in a ball, wanting a Lady Dior cannage handbag and feeling like a right moby dick. Amazing.
P.s Sigha re-'imagines' the Echologist's (Brendon Moeller innit) Slow Burn. And featuring insightful lyrics everyone can relate to 'You Can't Hide Your Love' is a pop-tastic blast from the past from DMX Krew, blates a genius.
